Gammelgården Museum of Scandia

Gammelgården Museum of Scandia is an open-air museum dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting Swedish immigrant heritage in the United States. Established in 1972, it honors the Swedish immigrants who founded the community and celebrates the stories of all immigrants. The museum features six historic buildings on its 11-acre site, including the Immigrant House, Minnesota's oldest Lutheran church building, the Pastor's House, a historic barn, and a peasant's home (Stuga). Visitors can step back in time to experience immigrant life, explore indoor exhibits in the Välkommen Hus (Welcome House), and participate in educational programs, workshops, and seasonal celebrations. The museum also has a gift shop offering items related to Swedish culture and history.
