Join us for a free event featuring Dr. Susanna Ashton, professor of English at Clemson University and expert on slavery and freedom narratives. In her talk, she will discuss her book, "A Plausible Man: The True Story of the Escaped Slave Who Inspired Uncle Tom's Cabin," which details the life of John Andrew Jackson, an escaped slave from Lynchburg, SC, who became a notable public speaker and writer. Light refreshments will be served, and Books On Broad will be on-site with books available for purchase.
