Volusia County is a county in east-central Florida, established in 1854. It operates under a council/manager form of government, with a seven-member County Council serving as the legislative and policy-making body. The County Manager, appointed by the Council, oversees daily operations and approximately 2,500 employees. The county provides a wide range of services to residents and visitors, including beach management, road repair, fire protection, and law enforcement. Its mission is to offer responsive and fiscally responsible services that enhance the health, safety, and quality of life for its citizens. Volusia County is part of the Deltona–Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach metropolitan statistical area.
