The James City County Library is part of the Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) system, which serves the residents of Williamsburg, James City County, and Upper York County. Opened in July 1996, the 35,000-square-foot facility offers approximately 100,000 volumes, work areas, meeting rooms, a family computer literacy center, and a wide array of electronic resources. It is a family-centered hub, featuring a popular Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio and a natural playground that encourage learning through play. The library provides core services such as access to books and digital resources, reference assistance, public computers, and more. As part of the WRL system, it contributes to community learning, enrichment, and engagement, with plans for future expansion and integration into a new Government Center to better serve the growing population. The library also offers various programs and activities for all ages, including storytimes, STEM activities, and technology-focused workshops.
