The Elizabeth Park Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining, preserving, and improving Elizabeth Park in Hartford, Connecticut, with its historic Helen S. Kaman Rose Garden as the centerpiece. Formed in 1977 as the Friends of Elizabeth Park to save the rose garden from demolition, the organization expanded its mission to encompass the entire park, including its gardens, grounds, and buildings. The Conservancy partners with the City of Hartford to steward this 100-acre urban oasis, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Beyond preservation, the Conservancy offers numerous free public programs, such as garden tours, history tours, tree tours, a summer concert series, gardening lectures, and workshops, all aimed at promoting the park as a regional horticultural and educational resource. They also oversee the operations of the Pond House Café within the park. The Conservancy relies on support from individuals, grants, and foundations to fund its operations and capital improvements, ensuring the park remains a beautiful and accessible destination for current and future generations.
