Details:
Join us for a weekend of historical and scientific exploration at Naper Settlement, featuring two exciting events that celebrate both America’s Civil War history and solar science!
On July 2, from 6 PM to 9 PM, bring your family to the Family STEM Night - Solar Science, where children ages 5 to 11 can step into the role of astronomers. Investigate our sun, engineer and launch your own rocket, and observe solar flares with the Naperville Astrological Society. This event honors the legacy of educator Sally L. Pentecost.
On July 3, from 10 AM to 4 PM, step back in time on Gettysburg Day as we commemorate the 163rd anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Engage in hands-on activities and educational programs highlighting Civil War history, including a chance to meet President Abraham Lincoln and witness his iconic Gettysburg Address in Naper Settlement’s historic chapel. Experience the 1860s through a fashion show featuring cage crinoline, participate in a children's civil war drilling program (pre-registration required), enjoy a sword drill on the Village Green, and create fireworks in a jar at our new IDNR STEM Learning Lab.
Both events take place at 523 S. Webster St., Naperville, IL. Family STEM Night requires a ticket priced at $8 per person, while Gettysburg Day is included with general admission ($0-$12). Celebrate history and science with us this Independence Day weekend! For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.napersettlement.org or call 630-420-6010.
