Buster Keaton’s "The General" (1926) is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made—a breathtaking comedy-action epic inspired by the real Great Locomotive Chase of the Civil War. Keaton performed every stunt himself, culminating in the most expensive single shot in silent film history: a real steam locomotive crashing into a burning river bridge. One hundred years later, it remains as thrilling as ever—and there’s no better way to experience it than with live organ accompaniment.
