What do you do with a broken toaster, a bike with a misaligned wheel, or a sweater with holes? Toss it? No way! Join us in the Appoquinimink Librarys Maker Lab! Our event will feature a team of volunteer repair experts who will assist with fixing a wide range of items free of charge. Well provide the necessary tools and some materials to help bring your broken items back to life. From toasters and lamps to bikes, clothes, toys, and tableware, well try to fix it. Our skilled volunteers are equipped with the knowledge to tackle a variety of issues and give your items a second chance. Visitors are expected to carry out the repairs themselves with the guidance of the repair coaches. The Appoquinimink Library Repair Caf aims to reduce waste by promoting the repair of everyday items. According to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, the United States is seeing an alarming increase in waste, with many items being discarded even though they could be easily repaired. Repairing items not only saves money and resources but also contributes to lowering CO2 emissions. The Repair Caf is dedicated to demonstrating that repair is a practical choice and ensuring that its readily accessible to all. For a repair slot, sign up in person at the event.
