Details:
An 8-week structured group intervention that emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling, increase physical activity and mental acuity. Before registering, please make sure you are able to attend all 8 classes. Sessions are for older adults who will learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, chnage their environment to reduce fall risk factors, promote exercise to increase strength and balance, and how to get up properly from a fall. If you are concerned about falls, have sustained a fall in the past, restrict your activities because of concerns about falling, are interested in improving flexibility, balance, strength, and are age 60 or older, able to walk (with or without the use of assistive devices) and able to problem-solve, these classes are for you!
