The Babbie Rural & Farm Learning Museum is a non-profit educational institution dedicated to preserving and showcasing the agricultural and rural history of the North Country, specifically from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. Its mission is to collect, preserve, restore, exhibit, and demonstrate historical farming artifacts and practices in an entertaining and educational environment. The museum features exhibits of household and rural antiques, live demonstrations of farm equipment, and a 200-year-old general store. It aims to create an atmosphere that depicts how rural farm families lived and worked, offering visitors insights into New York's rural and farm life development through displays of horse-drawn implements, gas engines, and early tractors. The museum also cares for barn animals that teach visitors about farm life and compassion.
