The Black Swamp Conservancy is a non-profit land trust dedicated to preserving and enhancing natural habitats and family farms in northwest Ohio for present and future generations. Established in 1993, the organization works to protect the region's rural heritage, unique natural habitats, and waterways through conservation easements and land ownership. They actively engage in habitat restoration projects, such as wetland and stream restoration, to improve water quality and support biodiversity. The Conservancy also has initiatives focused on preserving family farmland and supporting new farmers. Forrest Woods Nature Preserve, one of their largest owned properties, is a significant remnant of the historic Great Black Swamp and is home to numerous rare, threatened, and endangered species.
