Details:
Join us for a captivating talk by Olivia Li at the July Los Alamos Mountaineers meeting, where she will share her experiences from high-elevation trekking in Western China. Olivia recently completed a stunning camping trek through the remote Kama Valley, located on the east side of Mount Everest in Tibet. Accompanied by a supported group, she traversed a breathtaking landscape filled with towering Himalayan peaks and diverse ecosystems, including lush forests and vibrant rhododendron blooms.
In addition to her adventures in the Kama Valley, Olivia will also discuss her explorations in the sacred mountain regions of western Sichuan, specifically highlighting the beautiful Yading Nature Reserve and Mount Gongga. Her presentation will be enriched with cultural insights from her travels, featuring visits to the iconic Potala Palace and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.
Olivia, a Los Alamos resident and outdoor enthusiast, brings over 25 years of service experience and a passion for hiking and backpacking that she has developed over the years, especially after retiring in 2025. Don't miss this chance to hear about her adventures in person or via live stream. Admission is free!
