Since its inception in 1961, the Kittitas County Historical Society has been a beacon of preservation for local heritage. Originating from the efforts of the Kittitas County Pioneer Association in the 1930s, it was founded to safeguard the region's invaluable stories and artifacts. The early 60s saw a dedicated group of citizens formalize this vision, leading to the establishment of the Kittitas County Historical Museum in 1975. Over six decades later, the Society continues to thrive, passionately collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history and culture of Kittitas County.
