Blacksmith 101

Step back into history and experience the timeless craft of blacksmithing in this hands-on introduction to the forge. Participants will discover what skilled blacksmiths can create using little more than hot steel, a hammer, and an anvil. Along the way, you'll learn how a blacksmith's forge operates, become familiar with the different parts of an anvil, and explore the vital role blacksmiths played in shaping communities and civilizations around the world—including the development of our own country.
August Class
Each participant will have the opportunity to try their hand at this historic trade by forging a miniature sword from a piece of steel. Your finished creation will be yours to take home as a unique souvenir and reminder of your experience at the anvil.
