Details:
Join us for two exciting events this June at Rothrock State Forest! First, participate in the DCNR Bioblitz iNaturalist event, happening from June 1st to June 30th, where you can become a citizen scientist. While exploring the forest, take photos of any plants, animals, or fungi you encounter and submit them to iNaturalist to help identify the diverse organisms in the area. Track rare and endangered species, as well as invasive ones, as you contribute to scientific research.
In addition, enjoy "A Jennings Original Storybook Trail: A Firefly Fourth of July," taking place from June 13 to July 6, 2026. Follow the Blazing Star Trail for a charming self-guided story adventure about Flash, a little firefly, who aims to save America’s 250th birthday fireworks show. This free outdoor activity is perfect for children and families, providing an opportunity to read while discovering nature. The trail is mostly stroller-friendly, though there are some slight slopes and uneven areas. For more details, contact the Center at 724-794-6011. Join us for a month of exploration and fun in nature!
