Details:
Join us for the "Folk Dance of Korea," an immersive afternoon presented by The New York Korean Performing Arts Center on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 3 to 4 PM in the Main Atrium. This event, included with admission and featuring moderately loud live music, invites attendees to experience a variety of Korean traditional dances: the refined Ipchum, the dynamic Buddhist-inspired Seungmu, the vibrant Fan Dance (Buchaechum), the deeply moving shamanic Salpuri, and the joyful drum dance Sogochum. Throughout the program, audiences will have the opportunity to engage with the artists, gaining insight into the movements, music, and cultural significance of each dance. This initiative, part of PEM Presents, aims to showcase world-class artistry in various disciplines while enhancing community engagement and supporting artists with diverse perspectives. Made possible by The Joseph and Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation, this event contributes to the museum's mission as a global center for art and culture, featuring artist residencies, live performances, and educational programming.
