Resilience and Resistance

The Kennedy Museum of Art at Ohio University presents two significant exhibitions: "Resilience and Resistance" and "Material Matters." "Resilience and Resistance," curated by student interns Luiza de Araujo Caetano and Luca Gee, showcases 23 artworks that explore activism through various historical and contemporary lenses, including pieces by Käthe Kollwitz and reflecting issues like Civil Rights, the Vietnam War, and racial and gender inequity. In contrast, "Material Matters," set to open on April 10, 2026, will run until March 21, 2027, and is curated and installed by 26 undergraduate and graduate students from diverse disciplines. This exhibition investigates how craftsmanship and materials communicate cultural narratives and preserve community histories. Both exhibitions emphasize the importance of art in societal discourse and are generously funded by the Ohio Arts Council. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
