Details:
Step back in time during Virginia State Parks History & Culture Weekend and discover how children in the 18th century played right here in the region that once bustled with commerce, travel, and early American life. Long before modern technology, kids found fun in simple but lively games that connected communities and sparked imagination. Join us to experience authentic colonial-era play firsthand. Try your skills at classic games like hoop-and-stick, if you can beat the ranger in a race, and explore several other pastimes enjoyed by children over 200 years ago. Each activity offers a hands-on look at daily life during the colonial period and highlights the cultural traditions that helped shape the history of this area. Come play, learn, and connect with the past through the timeless joy of games! Please meet at Canoe Landing. All materials provided. Suitable for all ages. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather and bring a water bottle with you. Parks are for everyone, please let us know if you need special accommodation. For more information, please call (434) 933-8527 or email Tess. Himelspach@dcr.virginia.gov. Know Before You Go: Before your visit, find the most up to date health and safety information here.
