Candidates complete a 10-week course encompassing 50 hours of classroom and Zoom training, and hands-on field trips. Most classes feature guest experts who share their knowledge on a wide range of topics, including:
To become a certified Master Gardener Volunteer, after graduation first year volunteers are required to donate 50 hours of service, choosing from a wide variety of community projects and continuing education opportunities. Thereafter, Certified Master Gardener Volunteers donate 20 hours of service and 10 hours of continuing education per year. Our mission is to provide Athens County with timely research-based gardening information. ·
