Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center (CNC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a lifelong appreciation of the natural world through environmental education, habitat conservation, and outdoor experiences. Situated at the confluence of the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers, CNC manages 725 acres of protected habitat across Minnesota and Wisconsin, featuring over 20 miles of trails. The center offers free admission to ensure accessibility for all economic backgrounds and plays a vital role in hands-on environmental education for over 7,000 K-12 students and 50,000 visitors annually. Their programs, including an award-winning K-12 curriculum, focus on science-based learning, land stewardship, and connecting environmental and human health. CNC also features an education orchard and live animal exhibits, including raptors. The organization was founded on the legacy of Thomas and Edna Carpenter, who wished to preserve the bluff lands along the St. Croix River for public enjoyment.
