The Desmond-Fish Public Library is a public association library located in the heart of the Hudson Highlands, established in 1980. Its mission is to provide access to social and cultural ideas for the communities of Garrison and Philipstown through a wide variety of materials and programs. The library has a special focus on encouraging a love of reading and learning in young children and their parents. It also aims to preserve the integrity of the collections of the Curtis Desmond and Fish Families. The library offers diverse programs for all ages, a makerspace and digital education center promoting social justice and information literacy, and beautiful grounds including gardens and a walking path. It is committed to upholding core library values of democracy, diversity, and social responsibility, and actively engages in promoting racial equity and social justice. The library is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported by various funding sources, including community donations and the Friends of the Library organization.
