Details:
Join us for "Across Oceans, Across Walls: German Connections in Kernersville," a guided tour on June 22 and 23 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM that delves into the collaboration between Jule Körner and German decorative artist Caesar Milch, who significantly influenced the artistic vision of Körner’s Folly. Attendees will explore surviving murals, decorative paintings, historic photographs, and architectural spaces, uncovering how artistic traditions and craftsmanship transcended continents, impacting one of North Carolina's most remarkable houses. The tour will highlight the contributions of the Reuben Rink House Decorating & Furnishing Company and explore the broader narrative of transnational decorative arts in the early 1900s. In partnership with the Kernersville Museum, which will be open during the tour, this program invites visitors to discover the German influences that shaped both Körner’s Folly and the Kernersville community, showcasing the town's connections to global immigration, industry, and cultural exchange. A suggested donation of $10 is appreciated, while Körner’s Folly members can attend for free. Reservations are encouraged; to secure a spot, please email Brittany Hendley at brittany@kornersfolly.org. The event takes place at Körner’s Folly and the John & Bobbie Wolfe Visitors Center, located at 401 S. Main Street, Kernersville, NC 27284. For more information, contact Suzanna Malliett or Brittany Hendley at (336) 996-7922, or reach out to the Kernersville Museum at (336) 860-9589.
