Big Books: Screening of "The Portrait of a Lady"

Big Book participants are invited to attend a screening of the 1996 film version of Henry Jamess novel. Directed by Jane Campion, the cast stars Nicole Kidman (as Isabel Archer) , Barbara Hershey (as Madame Merle) , and John Malkovich (as the devious Gilbert Osmond) . The supporting cast includes Sir John Gielgud, Shelley Winters, Christian Bale, Viggo Mortensen and Mary-Louise Parker. The film runs 144 minutes; you may want to bring a seat cushion and a sweater!
