What happens when you discover a dinosaur? Paleontologist Kenneth Lacovara shares his experience in this 2016 TED Talk, a celebration of the Earth's geological history and a contemplation on our place in deep time. Join us as we watch and discuss together.
Lacovara was part of the team that unearthed Dreadnoughtus - a 77-million-year-old sauropod that was as tall as a two-story house and as heavy as a jumbo jet. He shares about the experience and reflects on the amazing improbability that a tiny mammal living in the cracks of the dinosaur world could evolve into a sentient being capable of understanding these magnificent creatures.
WPL's TED Talk Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Community members are invited to bring a sack lunch; coffee and dessert are provided.
