A Century of Bathing Suits from 1880 to 1980 with Elaine Henson

This presentation looks at bathing suits from 1890 to the 1980s, many of which are at the Fort Fisher Museum this summer of 2026. From the early suits that look like a dress in the late1800s to the baby doll look of the 60s and a bikini from the 80s, these suits also show a little slice of what life was like during the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, World Wars I and II, the Fifties to the Eighties. Not to be left out, the men will see many examples of what they have worn to the beach over the years.
