This program is for All Ages!
A Powwow is a intertribal celebration of Native American culture featuring dancing, singing, drumming and social connections. Bloomsburg University professor of percussion Dr. Gifford Howarth will talk about the cultural significance of these events and demonstrate elements of Native American music . Then, children and adults will be able to play in a drum circle and learn about musical concepts like tempo and dynamics as well as the meaning and uses for drum circle songs in Native American culture.
