The Nevada Historical Society (NHS), established in 1904, is Nevada's oldest museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, and educating the public about the state's rich cultural heritage. It houses a museum and research library with extensive collections of artifacts, documents, and photographs that chronicle Nevada's history from prehistoric times to the present. The NHS focuses on the people, places, and events that have shaped Nevada, including its mining and gambling industries, and offers exhibits, research resources, and educational programs. The organization also maintains the American Gaming Archives. Currently, the NHS building is undergoing renovations and is closed to the public until June 2026, with off-site programming available.
