**Event: Rhode Island & the American Revolution**
Join us for an in-depth lecture that will explore the early acts of resistance by Rhode Islanders leading up to the American Revolution. This presentation will outline significant events, including the colony's declarations of independence, the privateering era, and the two occupations of Aquidneck Island, focusing on the pivotal Battle of Rhode Island. Attendees will gain insight into Rhode Island's military contributions and the overall impact of the Revolution on the colony.
**About the Presenter:** Fred Zilian, a former Army infantry officer with over 21 years of service, has an extensive background in education. He previously taught history, ethics, and German at Portsmouth Abbey School and served as an adjunct professor at Salve Regina University. Zilian, who holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, has authored numerous articles and essays and has a passion for lecturing on diverse topics, as well as offering tours of historical sites such as Newport and Boston. Additionally, he has performed as Abraham Lincoln in a one-man play.
