Details:
When the Americans declared independence on July 4th, 1776, they had an immediate need for a new government. The Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia was still a decade away, so how did the new nation govern itself during the war and immediately after? Author/historian/archivist Mickey DiCamillo discusses his chapter in a book recently published by the University of Pennsylvania Press titled Greater Philadelphia and the Nation and explains how the national government functioned under the Articles of Confederation during the war and the years immediately following the war. He explains what worked and what didn’t with an emphasis on the impact it had on NJ.
