Sound Series: L’Rain

Join us for the Sound Series featuring L’Rain, the innovative musical project of multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and curator Taja Cheek. Known for her boundary-crossing approach that blends art, music, film, fashion, and cultural discourse, Cheek, along with collaborators Ben Chapoteau-Katz and Andrew Lappin, challenges traditional genre limits and reinterprets pop tropes. Her critically acclaimed 2021 album, *Fatigue*, was awarded Album of the Year by *The Wire*, and in May 2026, she recorded a live album and concert film at Walker Art Center. Cheek has also made notable contributions as the guest curator of the 2024 Whitney Biennial and currently serves as the artistic director at Performance Space New York. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with a primarily standing room layout and limited seating available by advance request.
