Join us for the Comics for Peace & Justice Workshop, where aspiring young comic artists aged 7-12 can engage in meaningful discussions and creativity. On August 2, from 9 am to noon, instructor Sarah Hynfield will explore mental health themes through the books "Moogie is Anxious" by Andrew Au and "Better off with Me" by Sarah Hynfield, focusing on how to support oneself and others dealing with anxiety and depression. Following the discussion, participants will collaborate to brainstorm ideas for a comic story addressing mental health issues.
Then, on September 13, also from 9 am to noon, Sarah Hynfield will lead a session centered around compassion, featuring the books "A Little Compassion" by Ash Padilla and "Putting Ourself in Their Shoes" by Saad Ghosn and LD Nehls. Participants will discuss the importance of kindness and consideration, followed by a group brainstorming activity to create their own comic stories about compassion. Both workshops are free, but spaces are limited, and registration is required to attend.
