The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the Protecting Herd Profitability Workshop on June 23 in Hondo. Topics and speakers include: Pasture mealybug: An emerging issue in forage production — José Santiago-González, Ph. D., AgriLife Extension entomologist and assistant professor in the Texas A&M Department of Entomology. Overview of the New World screwworm and its potential impact — Sonja Swiger, Ph. D., AgriLife Extension entomologist and professor, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Stephenville. Management practices to reduce the impact of New World screwworm — Karl Harborth, Ph. D., AgriLife Extension livestock specialist and assistant professor, Department of Animal Science. Two Texas Department of Agriculture integrated pest management continuing education units will be available.
