The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host an awareness and prevention event on the New World Screwworm on June 22 in Junction. The event is free, but an RSVP is required by calling 325-241-9564 or by emailing Kalea Simon at Kalea.simon@ag.tamu.edu. Deadline to RSVP is June 20. The program is being held to bring awareness and promote prevention of the New World screwworm in Kimble County. Information on protocols for suspected cases will also be provided. Speakers include: Sonja Swiger, Ph. D., AgriLife Extension entomologist and professor, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Stephenville. Dustin Dorris, DMV, Texas Animal Health Commission. Marcus Whiteworth and an area biologist, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
