The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host an update on the New World screwworm on June 18 in Panna Maria. Admission is free, however there is a $20 fee for private applicator license holders who wish to receive continuing education units. Registration is available online. The event will focus on the New World screwworm, including a current update, what to expect if your county is affected, as well as best practices for livestock, equine and companion animal owners. Two Texas Department of Agriculture integrated pest management continuing education units will be offered. Speakers include: Karl Harborth, Ph. D., AgriLife Extension livestock specialist and assistant professor, Texas A&M Department of Animal Science. Shawn Gilmore, DVM, Karnes City Vet Hospital.
