Early detection can save lives. Prostate cancer will affect 1 in 8 men during their lifetime. A screening can help detect it early, when treatment is most effective and outcomes are more favorable. Free prostate cancer screenings will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the Oncology Conference Room at Reid Health, 1100 Reid Parkway. Your privacy is maintained during the screening. An appointment is needed. Reserve your spot by calling (765) 985-8847. Who should consider screening? Men age 50 and older who have discussed screening with their provider. African American men, particularly those over 65. Men ages 40-45 who are considered high risk, including those with a father, brother, or son diagnosed before age 65 or with multiple first-degree relatives who’ve had prostate cancer. Screenings might include a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and/or a digital rectal exam (DRE). No referral required. No cost to attend. One simple step toward protecting your health.
