Details:
Join Syracuse University professor and author Dennis Rasmussen for a discussion of Frederick Douglass, America’s foremost abolitionist. Rasmussen will explore how Douglass came to terms with the complicated legacy of America’s founding and founders, given their complicity regarding slavery.
In June, the Civics Initiative will be focusing on exploring the foundational idea of equality - who was and who wasn't included in the original concept and the continued struggle over the past 250 years for individuals and groups of individuals to realize equality.
This program is part of Liverpool Public Library Civics programming.
