Details:
Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Orange County is happy to announce another installment of the Cornell Climate Stewards training program this year!
This program trains local residents to plan and implement volunteer projects related to extreme weather event preparedness and weather adaptation. The program helps create community leaders who are able to bring knowledge about weather-related problems facing communities, such as flooding, heat islands, and other adverse weather events.
If you would like to participate in the training and need financial assistance, please contact Erik Schellenberg, Climate Smart Communities & Climate Stewards Coordinator, CCEOC at jk642@cornell.edu or 845-344-1234 ext. 260.
Community Leadership Initiative
The community leadership stipend is for people who live or work in either Middletown, NY, or Port Jervis, NY. Stipends are made possible by a grant from Orange and Rockland Utilities Inc.
For those who qualify, a stipend of $1,000 will be provided in two installments. The first payment for the stipend will be made after completion of the first module, and the second payment will be made after completion of the entire course.
If you are interested in applying for the stipend program, please be sure to select the second option in addition to filling out the first section.
Training Schedule
The program consists of 12 modules, which will be held on Thursday nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 30, August 13, 20, 27, September 3, 10, 24, and October 8, 15, 22, 29.
