The Fenton Mansion has a long history tied to veterans and their needs. Gov. Reuben E. Fenton was known as the “Soldier’s Friend” for his work on behalf of veterans of the American Revolution and the War of 1812. During the Civil War, he served as New York’s governor and advocated for soldiers and their families.
After the City of Jamestown acquired the mansion, it became a home for veterans’ groups connected to the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, and later World War II. The mansion also served as the draft board and departure point for many local soldiers and sailors heading from Jamestown to Buffalo.
Today, the Fenton continues that legacy through veterans programming. Your donation to the Vets Finding Vets Fund helps support:
Staff member Barbara Cessna presented more than 45 programs for the Fenton and other community groups last year. She also works with Buffalo-Niagara Honor Flight and has helped 97 Honor Flight veterans since 2017.
Every gift helps us honor local service, preserve veterans’ stories, and continue meaningful programming for veterans, families, and the community.
Please support the Vets Finding Vets Fund through Give Big CHQ. Thank you for helping us preserve the stories of those who served!
