Visiting Artist, John O’Connor will give an artist talk at Vermont Studio Center on June 17, 2026 at 8:00 pm ET. This event is free and open to the public.
John J. O’Connor, born in Westfield, MA, holds an MFA in Painting and Drawing and an MS in Art History from Pratt Institute. A recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and two NYFA grants, he has also attended residencies such as MacDowell, Skowhegan, Civitai, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
O’Connor’s work has been exhibited at museums and galleries internationally in Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, China, Australia, and across the U.S. at venues including Mass MOCA, the Weatherspoon Museum, the Wellin Museum, The Tang Museum, Pierogi Gallery, Marlborough Gallery, Andrew Rosen Gallery, and Pazo Fine Art. His art is held in museum collections such as MoMA, the Whitney Museum, the Hood Museum, and the Weatherspoon Museum.
His exhibitions have been reviewed in The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, Bomb Magazine, and The Brooklyn Rail, among others. O’Connor is a member of the experimental art and technology collective NonCoreProjector and collaborates on an ongoing multimedia project, Superspreaders, with author Rick Moody.
