Details:
Join us as we assist the Gary Housing Authority with an exciting new community project!
On July 25th, we will be assisting with trail clearing and trash pickup in preparation for installation of a wetlands overlook in August. This trail and overlook will serve to better connect members of the surrounding community to a local wetland habitat, providing better access to this natural space in the heart of downtown Gary, Indiana.
How You Can Help: Volunteers will assist with trail clearing utilizing hand tools like loppers, pruners, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, trash grabbers, etc.
What to Bring: Long pants and sturdy shoes/rubber boots are recommended. Gloves are recommended and will be provided by SHLT if needed. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle as there is no potable water at this location.
Length: 3 hours
Weather Policy: Rain or shine. Event will be cancelled in inclement weather.
