Details:
Experience the magic of nature after dark at Lydick Bog during this special guided night hike and moth exploration.
Begin your evening with a guided night hike led by Shirley Heinze Land Trust’s Engagement Coordinator, Bella. As you explore the sights and sounds of the bog at dusk, we will learn about this unique and rare ecosystem and discover the nocturnal plants and animals that emerge as the sun goes down.
After the hike, join Thomas Clark, Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences at Indiana University South Bend, as we set up lights to attract a fascinating variety of moths up close. Discover the incredible diversity, colors, and adaptations of these often-overlooked nighttime pollinators while gaining insight from an expert in the field.
Perfect for curious minds of all ages, this program offers a rare opportunity to experience the bog in a whole new light—after dark.
Please bring a flashlight, wear sturdy shoes, and dress for the weather.
Weather Policy: Rain or shine. Event will be cancelled in inclement weather. No rain date.
