Details:
In honor of America’s 250th birthday and the Summer Reading theme, Unearth a Story, Jessica Weyer, Penn State Agriculture and Extension Educator will give a talk on food preservation. July is National Blueberry Month so Weyer will be giving a food preservation demonstration using blueberries. Attendees will learn how to properly and safely preserve blueberries in various ways including jam making, the fruit leather process, and freezing blueberries. Some of these food preservation techniques including canning have been utilized for centuries. Recipes will be shared along with food samples. Participants will leave the program with various ideas on what to grow to preserve at home and they will be encouraged to shop locally for in-season produce.
This program will be held in the library’s multipurpose room.
Registration preferred. Walk-ins welcome.
