Details:
Dance, Dance, Dance Join us for a fun family dance party to celebrate Juneteenth and Pride. Juneteenth, observed on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved Black people in Texas were informed that they were free. The very first Juneteenth freedom celebrations took place in Texas. In 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday. June is Pride month, commemorating the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion of 1969 and honoring the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. Honoring both Juneteenth and Pride, we remember historical and contemporary struggles, and we celebrate community resilience and joy. Coloring and Craft Tables Coloring and craft supplies will also be available for self-serve creativity and enjoyment. Who Should Come? Everyone. All ages are welcome to enjoy. Library staff may take photos, videos, or audio recordings at our events. Please tell us if you do not wish to be photographed, video-recorded, or audio-recorded. We will always respect your requests. An ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter or closed captioning can be provided for this program if requested at least seven (7) business days in advance. For assistance, please contact your library or accessibility@aclibrary.org .
