Details:
Join us for "America 250: Celebrating the Spirit of 1776," a kickoff event in Edwardsville that brings history to life with hands-on activities for all ages, live performances, and engaging exhibits. Experience interactive reenactments with historical figures like Abigail Adams and Benjamin Franklin as they share insights about the events leading up to the Declaration of Independence. Enjoy a passionate reading of the Declaration by the Alumni Players, who will breathe life into this pivotal document. Participants are invited to sign a supersized replica of the Declaration while exploring educational exhibits showcasing various advocates for American independence and picking up a special America 250 flag.
Help decorate a giant, community birthday cake created by the Edwardsville Public Library and Edwardsville Children's Museum, which will be displayed before being transported to the American Legion Post 199 for festivities. The musical program features patriotic songs by the Great Rivers Choral Society and folk tunes from the Mound City Slickers, culminating with a concert by the Edwardsville Symphony on Sunday night.
