Details:
Join the City of Mansfield for a daylong celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary, coupled with the "Threads Through Time" event, as we honor national history and local heritage on July 4th. The America 250 Freedom celebration will feature complimentary activities accessible to all, including the rededication of the historic 1881 Vasbinder Fountain, a picnic with live music, refreshments, a time capsule opening, and exciting events at Mansfield Speedway, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display at 9 PM.
As part of this community celebration, attendees can explore historical textiles such as an embroidered Pickering Family quilt and a WWI memorial flag, while third-graders from Heritage Elementary present a paper quilt. Visitors are invited to add their names to an America 250 quilt for a Bicentennial Time Capsule, set to be opened in 2076, and enjoy a model train display from The Big Roadshow along with various engaging activities.
Additionally, experience the America 250 Picnic and Independence Day Concert at the site of America’s first presidential library, featuring nostalgic fun with local food trucks, an annual concert by the Toledo Concert Band with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, and discounted museum admission of $2.50. The day also includes games, crafts, historical talks, self-guided tours of the museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and an exhilarating concert performance of the "1812 Overture" with cannon fire from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free, with wheelchair access via the rear lift. Join us for a memorable day celebrating our nation’s heritage and community spirit!
