Details:
Join the Native Plant Garden Team and Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) for two engaging volunteer opportunities focused on preserving local ecology and community green spaces.
Every Thursday from 9 am to 11 am at Ironwood Square, 847 Case Street in Hendersonville, participate in the Native Plant Garden Volunteer Team to help maintain over two acres of beautifully planted native flowers, shrubs, trees, and bog plants. No gardening experience is required, but please bring gloves and gardening tools. Starting May 1st, the team will operate during these hours, shifting to 1:00 – 3:00 pm every other week in October due to cooler weather. For additional information or to sign up, contact mary@conservingcarolina.org.
Meanwhile, the FENCE Invasive Plant Management initiative invites volunteers to clear invasive species on its property on the second Thursday of each month from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, continuing through the summer of 2026. Volunteers should wear long sleeves, long pants, and gloves, and bring hand clippers if possible. Meet in the FENCE parking lot on Hunting Country Road. This activity is coordinated by FENCE representatives, a non-profit committed to preserving green spaces and offering educational and recreational opportunities. To RSVP, email Greg at lindykins@charter.net or Don at wouldwork@gmail.com.
Engage with nature and make a difference in your community through these rewarding volunteer experiences!
