The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the return of Cops & Bobbers, an annual youth‑focused fishing event held in conjunction with Tennessee’s Free Fishing Weekend. Now in its tenth year, this program continues to provide a safe, fun, and family‑friendly outdoor experience for children and individuals with special needs throughout the county.
Cops & Bobbers is open to children 16 and under, as well as participants of all ages with special needs. No fishing license is required during the statewide Free Fishing Weekend, allowing families to enjoy the event at no cost.
Free fishing with assistance from deputies, giveaways and prizes throughout the event, a supportive environment designed for all ability levels, and opportunities to meet and interact with Sheriff’s Office personnel.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office encourages families to come out, enjoy the day, and take part in one of the county’s most popular community traditions.
No registration is required.
Age Limit: 0 - 16 years old
On Bobby Wilson Free Fishing Day June 6th, 2026 all state residents and visitors of any age may fish for free without a license in Tennessee's public waters. Additionally, youth ages 15 or younger may fish for free the entire week, beginning on Free Fishing Day (June 6) and continuing through the following Friday, June 12.
