On June 6th, 2026, residents and visitors of all ages are invited to participate in the Ed Carson Memorial Free Fishing Day at Bedford Lake, located at 125 Bedford Lake Road, Normandy, TN. From 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, attendees can fish without a license and enjoy a free lunch, with prizes awarded to registered children aged 4-15. Registration will take place at the Shelbyville Parks and Recreation tent, organized by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) in collaboration with local partners. Additionally, a Boater Education Class and Exam will be held on the same day at Chattanooga State, Omni Building, Room B119, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This Coast Guard Auxiliary-led class costs $35 and requires participants to be at least 12 years old, bringing a pencil and obtaining a type 600 boating permit.
