Global Birdfair

Details:

Each year, one of the main aims of the world famous Global Birdfair is to support the conservation work of BirdLife International. In 2025, Global Birdfair donated $140,000 to Safeguarding Ocean Species. This important project concentrates on the South Pacific region and creates awareness on a global scale, alongside BirdLife International’s Seabird and Marine Programme Conservation initiatives. Global longline fisheries bycatch poses the single greatest threat to many albatross and petrel species. The project supports sustainable fisheries management and promoting biodiversity conservation as part of a broader vision for resilient Pacific ecosystems.

Global Birdfair is spearheaded by Tim Appleton (founder of the original Birdfair in 1989) and Penny Robinson. “We are building a program of events to interest all generations,” says Appleton. “There will be a variety of activities including lectures by guest speakers sharing their experiences and discussing topics relating to wildlife around the world.”

Many national and international sponsors and exhibitors will be in attendance. Exhibitors include conservation organizations, tourist boards, and ecotourism companies alongside exhibitors selling books, art, optical equipment, bird food, and local produce.

The location of the event is conveniently placed in the center of England and within easy reach of a wide range of transport options from London and the rest of the UK. Global Birdfair will take place at Lyndon Top. Book in advance to camp on site at Lyndon Top Caravan Park, located on the south shore of Rutland Water near Oakham, Rutland.
