The Cosumnes River Preserve is a nature preserve dedicated to safeguarding and restoring California's valley oak woodland, riparian forest, and surrounding native habitats. It focuses on restoring and creating freshwater wetlands to support migratory water birds along the Pacific Flyway. The preserve also demonstrates the compatibility of human uses, such as agriculture, recreation, and education, with the natural environment. It protects one of the last free-flowing rivers in the Sierra Nevada, supporting diverse plant and animal life, including over 250 bird species. Activities include hiking, bird-watching, paddling, and educational programs.
